Post Natal Home Visit Program
What is the Post Natal Home Visit Program?
The Postnatal Home Visit Program provides comprehensive, in-home postnatal care for new mothers and their babies during the early weeks following birth.
The program supports:
- Maternal physical recovery
- Emotional wellbeing
- Infant health
OUR GOAL
Who runs the Post Natal Home Visit Program?
The Post Natal Home Visit Program is provided by Nohelia (Natalie) Bumps to Bubz and Suzie Babee Bump & Beyond, both are experienced midwives who run their own independent midwifery services.
While this program is not directly run by The George Centre, we’ve partnered with them to make it easy for families who have given birth with us to access additional postnatal support at home.
Who is eligible to participate in the Post Natal Home Visit Program?
What is the purpose of the Post Natal Home Visit Program?
The program aims to support a safe and smooth transition from hospital to home. It is used to:
- Identify and manage postnatal health concerns early
- Promote maternal wellbeing
- Promote optimal infant health
- Provide continuity of midwifery care following discharge from the maternity unit
- Reduce unnecessary appointments and hospital readmissions
Personalised Support for Every Family
Postnatal Home Visits are tailored to meet the individual needs of each family.
What is included in the Post Natal Home Visit Program for the mother?
Each visit includes:
- A full postnatal assessment of the mother, including assessment of physical recovery
- Breastfeeding and lactation support
- Pain management
- General health review
- A comprehensive postnatal mental health assessment.
If any concerns are identified with the mother’s recovery or mental wellbeing, the mother’s obstetrician will be contacted for further advice or management.

Care in the comfort of your home
While enrolled in the program, patients are not required to attend GP appointments for routine baby checks and weights unless requested by a paediatrician with the exception of the 6 week baby check with the family’s GP.
If concerns are identified, the baby’s paediatrician will be contacted or the baby referred to the family GP as appropriate.
Relationship with Child and Family Community Programs
The Postnatal Home Visit Program does not replace the Child and Family Community Program. Families enrolled in the program are not required to engage with child and family community services if they choose not to but may still access these services alongside the program if they wish.
Cost & Medicare Rebates for the Post Natal Home Visit Program
The cost of the Postnatal Home Visit (Mother and Baby) is $250 per visit.
Medicare rebates are available, with patients over the Medicare Safety Net receiving $232.50 back, and patients not over the Safety Net receiving $168.00 back.
The midwife will lodge the Medicare claim on the day of the visit.
